      <image:title>Therapy - How can I help?</image:title>
<image:caption>The quest to live a connected, healthy, nourishing, purposeful, and emotionally authentic life is for me, and my clients, the heart of mental wellness. My therapy practice is dedicated to working with adults who experience internal stress due to a life transition, a conflicted significant relationship, or work-life balance issues. Therapy with me is a dynamic process. I engage in direct communication, active support and a healthy dose of humor to generate sustainable change. I am transparent in sharing my clinical thoughts and impressions with you as we work together. I am bilingual in Spanish, having lived and worked in both Mexico and Costa Rica. I am licensed to provide therapy in Texas, North Carolina, Florida, Connecticut and Massachusetts.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Therapy - How do I do things?</image:title>
<image:caption>My approach is warm, proactive, respectful, and engaged. I believe direct and authentic communication is the hallmark of effective therapy. In my free 15 minute consultation, we will meet to determine if therapy with me is a good fit. If we decide to work together, the first few sessions are dedicated to me learning all about you—I do this by asking lots of questions! We will create your goals together, shaped by my recommendations about strategies and frequency of sessions. I see some clients for many years and others for a handful of sessions. It all depends on you and what you need.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About Megan - Explorer.</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a curious explorer of ideas, languages, relationships, and places. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy which helped me explore the Austin restaurant world as a waitress for a few years before returning to the University of Texas at Austin for my Masters in Science and Social Work. I explored international social work in child welfare, public schools, and medical settings in Texas, California, and Mexico before launching my private therapy practice in Austin. In 2017, our family embarked on a year of working and living abroad that was life-changing on a personal and professional level. I am fluent in Spanish and have lived and worked in Mexico and Costa Rica.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About Megan - Family.</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a mother to twins who are teens, and I am lucky to parent these kids with my wonderful spouse of 20 years, Alexander. He is also a therapist, and we met years ago while working together. We share the joys and challenges of an intercultural marriage and the tough and tender moments of raising our kids. In case you are wondering, being married to a therapist doesn’t mean that we are immune from common parenting and mid-life marital issues. And yes, we’ve put some couples therapists to the test in our time together! Nine years ago we adopted our most beloved problem-child from Austin Pets Alive—Diego, a shepherd mix who fancies himself a fierce defender of our pack and in 2023, his puppy sister, Frida came along to complete our family and make fast friends with the whole world!</image:caption>

      <image:title>About Megan - At Home.</image:title>
<image:caption>While in Austin, I enjoy quiet, simple pleasures. I am a novice gardener and late-blooming cook, an enthusiastic reader of the first three chapters of most books, walker of city trails, and an inconsistent yogi. I enjoy going to any live performance, especially theater. As my 50-year old body reckons with it’s time supporting me thus far, I am committed to treating it well. These days, that means that I try to exercise at least three times a week, I don’t drink or smoke, and I eat nourishing foods. I try not to overwork or do all the things that I feel pulled to do, even when they are exciting, because I know what burnout is, and I don’t want to go back there. Taking good care of myself is the foundation of taking good care of you.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Workshops - Depolarizing Families</image:title>
<image:caption>I think most of us are eternally working on how to move through conflict more effectively—myself included! In this workshop, we will explore the topic of political polarization among families: how it affects us and how we might move through it with more hope. Participants of all political, spiritual, and cultural backgrounds are warmly welcomed. We will anchor conversations around the story of Mónica Guzmán and her parents, which is detailed in her book, podcast and TedTalk. We will make use of the Discussion Guide provided for her book but it is just fine to watch the TedTalk or listen to the podcast for exposure to key concepts instead.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Sleep Consulting - Tired of feeling exhausted?</image:title>
<image:caption>Anyone who has ever struggled with insomnia knows how poor sleep affects everything. You already know that good sleep is critical for physical and mental wellness. You’re frustrated, stressed and exhausted because you try so hard to get good sleep but nothing seems to work. Sleep hygiene recommendations don’t really work for you. No matter how exhausted you are you just can’t get to sleep. Or you can fall asleep but can’t stay asleep. If you’ve have had several months or longer with poor sleep like this, you may begin to lose hope. You may take something to help you sleep, but you know that’s only a short-term solution. I can help you break the cycle of exhaustion, insomnia and frustration. It doesn’t have to be like this forever. Sleep consulting is different from sleep hygiene or talk therapy. It can be added to your therapy sessions with me or with someone else.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Sleep Consulting - Sleep Consulting Helps</image:title>
<image:caption>Sleep consulting is short-term, strategic work. We begin by talking about how your sleep issues impact your life, track your current sleep patterns and then implement strategies to improve the quality of your sleep. This is hard work at the beginning but if you stick with it, the benefits are transformational. This approach is good for people who can tolerate the short-term discomfort of retraining your body to get good sleep for the long-term gains of healthy sleep. Sleep consulting draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTI), which is an evidence-based treatment for Insomnia.</image:caption>
